Rose and Delilah are back for a songwriting retreat with a Twist!!!

This time in Maylands at Lyrics Underground, one of THE BEST rooms to play in Perth. Carve away some time to write and perform your songs…. do not miss out on tickets!

What can you expect?

We will begin the afternoon with meditation and vocal exercises, then limber you up with some writing exercises, to stretch your writing chops and push through those writing blocks!!!

We will then talk all things performance and stagecraft…how do you get a song from a bit of an idea to performance ready!!!!! and THEN…you get to perform 1 or 2 songs (depends on # of attendees) ON STAGE at Lyrics Underground in front of your (very supportive, incredibly encouraging retreat peers with feedback from Rose and Delilah!

You will need to bring:

- your instrument

- notepad and pen

- $ for coffee/lunch/dinner etc

- 2 songs ready for feedback. No reading lyrics or charts.. this is part of you getting performance ready cheat sheet on the ground is ok).

This afternoon is for you if:

- you are writing your own songs already and understand the structure of a song (lyrics, verse/chorus, melody etc)

- you'd like to strengthen your writing muscles

- you’d like to add tools to your song belt

- you’d like the opportunity to practice performing your songs on stage in front of an incredibly supportive audience

- you’d appreciate some gentle feedback in a safe, supportive space to improve your skills

- you’d like to meet an incredibly supportive community of like-minded people

Speakers

Rose Parker is a prolific and magical songwriter weaving words and images to blanket your soul, with a voice that moves from folk whisperer to gospel belter. Formally one half of the Velvet Janes, she has toured from Sydney to San Francisco, played national and international festivals , opened for Ani Di Franco, Luka Bloom, The Cowboy Junkies , Paul Kelly, The Waifs, as well as writing, releasing and producing 3 EPS and 4 albums with a new album rolling out through 2024. She was recently recognised with a national songwriting award by the Australian Songwriting Association, winning the Rock/indie category with her latest release Blood On The Water.

Delilah Rose has been writing songs and processing the world around her through songwriting since 1999 and loves bringing people together. She’s won Best Group at the WA Country Music Awards, twice nominated for Best Country Act (WAM Awards) and is described as “a great storyteller” by Triple J’s Nkechi Anele. She has played Miri Country Music Festival (Malaysia), supported Troy Cassar-Daley in Darwin, NT plus played Boyup Brook Country Music Festival, Country Sounds Festival, Wave Rock Weekender, Telethon7 2022 and Nannup Music Festival.
